Moving voice series with Ria Soemardjo
This series includes of 3 small group classes and a one hour individual session with Ria Soemardjo.
Get comfortable with your unique speaking/singing voice and develop a clear understanding of how to use your voice powerfully and expressively without strain.
Sessions include body mapping and sound/movement exercises. In her approach to teaching, Ria draws on many years as an Alexander Technique teacher as well as her own performance experience.
A series of 3 small group classes and a one hour individual session. The groups are limited to 4 people maximum, allowing for individual attention. Beginners to experienced voice users will benefit from this approach. During the class, participants can choose to work on a short song/poem/presentation according to their interest.
Individual sessions are shaped around your needs/interests and allow us to clarify your own particular patterns around using your voice.
The small group format (limited to 4 people) offers opportunities for participants to experiment with speaking and or singing voice in a supportive and stimulating environment. Through observing ourselves and others in action, we can deepen our understanding of our own habitual patterns around vocal expression, and integrate new ideas into situations we may find challenging . Each session incorporates embodied anatomy and voice movement explorations. During the session, you will receive practical guidance from Ria as you explore using your voice with ease and comfort in different situations.
Over the years of teaching voice and Alexander Technique, I have found that a combination of both individual and small group learning provides an ideal environment for exploring the full potential of our own speaking/singing voice. I find that the Alexander Technique is extraordinarily useful as a way to refine our kinaesthetic intelligence as we move/sound/ think. I am particularly passionate about teaching in a way that meets each individuals needs and interests. Teaching in this exciting field requires me to be highly flexible and creative, as each person I work with brings their own blend of interests, needs and resources, and a precious and unique voice. I like to leave space around the structures I offer, for individual curiosities to unfold..
