embodied rhythm
'I'm passionate about sharing resonance and rhythm practices for both musicians and those who don't consider themselves musical.
The deeper I go with my practice and teaching, the clearer it is to me that these are profound practices for bridging inside and outside worlds. Being able to move more fluidly and without unnessary drama, between listening/sounding/action/rest. My recent musical adventures at the Indigenous gatherings in Indonesia & Australia have shown me that humans have always used rhythm practices to build connection and community and sanity in times of chaos.'
Ria completed her basic training in TaKeTiNa rhythm process with the founder of the work Reinhardt Flatischler and  Australian master teacher -  Tania Bosak.   Ria also draws on many years of immersion in Javanese and Balinese traditional music and has performed her own music around Australia and Asia.
Her unique approach is imbued with a sophisticated understanding of the interconnection of intention, imagination, breath and movement through her work as an Alexander Technique teacher.
Ria is passionate about sharing this embodied approach to rhythm education through her regular workshops.

What to expect in a TaKeTiNa workshop....
During a TaKeTiNa session, participants are guided through an experience of simultaneous rhythmic layers using simple movements - stepping, clapping and singing. Exploring  falling in and out of poly-rhythms - with no pressure to get it right.
This process develops a deep sense of rhythm,  no previous musical experience is required. TaKeTiNa has been developed through over 40 years by world renowned rhythm researcher - Reinhard Flatischler.
Ria completed her basic training with the founder of the work -  Reinhardt Flatischler and  Australian master teacher -  Tania Bosak.  She  draws on many years of immersion in Javanese and Balinese traditional music and has performed her own music around Australia and Asia. Her workshops are enriched by her many years of experience in somatic movement approaches including her teacher training in Alexander Technique.

What is TaKetina?

TaKeTiNa is pure rhythm.
Four decades of music, a new kind of rhythm education and therapy, plus international research. Worldwide, countless people are using the TaKeTiNa process as a musical method for personal development.
TaKeTiNa is one of the most efficient learning methods available today. It is a process for activating human and musical potential through rhythm. It is a path in which musical learning always goes hand in hand with personal development.

TaKeTiNa conveys rhythm the way people naturally grasp and learn it: by direct physical experience of fundamental rhythmic movement. The capacity for this is inborn; all infants come into the world with the sensory and motor skills that become the rhythmic foundation of all music. Fundamental rhythmic movement are the underlying matrix of an form of music.
The body is the instrument, the rhythm experience therefore is very intense and direct. TaKeTiNa is just as appropriate for musical laypersons as for professional musicians.
